My life story (so far)

[Cymraeg]

Well here's what I've been up to so far: You may be thinking to yourself that I have a "different" name, well the reason for that is the fact that I am Welsh (and proud of it). I come from the nice island off the North Wales coast called Ynys Mon (or Anglesey for those of that aren't up to date on your Welsh place names), from a village called Llandegfan.

I guess I'd better mention my family, especially my sister, Heledd.  I'm glad someone in the family will've learnt something at uni!!! (I was far too lazy!). She graduated in Welsh at Bangor university (June 1998) and then worked at Champion 103FM, a commercial radio station for Anglesey and North West Wales. At the moment, she is working for Antena in Caernarfon.

You most probably haven't heard of that village, but we do have one famous citizen - Aled Jones. I was in secondary school with him and his mother was my primary school teacher.

I went to Ysgol David Hughes (1984- 1991) in Porthaethwy (Menai Bridge) where the most famous pupils to come out of the school were Mathew Maynard (plays cricket for Glamorgan), the Emyr brothers - Arthur the Welsh rugby player, Dafydd the actor and Garmon the TV presenter - and Huw Garmon, who's film Hedd Wyn was nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Film a few years back.

From there onwards, I guess things went downhill: I went to the University of Wales in Aberystwyth (1991 - 1994), and somehow or other I managed to get a Welsh degree. That's really when I first gained an interest in computers.

After spending 3 wonderful years in Aber, drinking far too much, I thought I'd better try and work out what career I wanted to do, and I got onto a teacher training course in The Normal College, Bangor. I was living about 5 miles from my parents place, but at least my dearest mother was doing my washing for me.

Well that's it really, so far. I am now living in Swindon (yes, I have been brave and ventured over Offa's Dyke!). And the reason I'm living down here? A man of course, called Andy (I had to promise him that he'd get a mention in here someplace!)

Having moved down here, I've been foolish(!) enough to want to teach children. I've did quite a bit of supply work in the area, but between April and July 1996, I was working in a school in Swindon, in Pinehurst. What an interesting school!!! One of the highlights of working at the school, was that it gave me the chance to meet Kriss Akabusi. Fair play to him, he didn't laugh!

Having done more supply work, I've been lucky enough to get a job in a school in Wroughton, which is about 5 miles from here.

One of my best friends down here is Michelle.

Holidays.
